It's the end of an era. From 2001 to 2019, I have been set on this journey to discover and learn how this insane and massive world works from many mentors and instructors to meeting new people who would eventually become my long time friends. It's very much a nostalgic feeling, reminiscing on how all of these fantasic experiences I have encountered while on this journey.

A Creative Nerd
Nicholas John Koumis
ArtistAbout me
Hello again. This is Nicholas.
Since I was young, I have always had an adept keen eye for creativity, art, and composition. I was timid and not very talkative, but nonverbally I was able to excel through the amazing work I had created. Therefore, growing up, I began to look at the world more closely and I became inspired by tons of media that have left their lasting impressions on me. I began to imagine my own stories, illustrate my own artwork, and make my own videos from all the crazy ideas bouncing around in my head.
As a student at Hofstra University, I collaborated with my colleagues on many wonderful short films and live television shows within our local television network, HEAT Network, first from a young Production Assistant and then rose to Producer of my own senior thesis show, Smash for the Ages.
My commitment and dedication to film extends beyond learning technical production skills. My passionate belief that communication and leadership skills are essential to build an efficient team has lead me to become the Vice President of Hofstra's own podcasting network, Required Radio, along with my colleague and current former President, Adam Castar. This experience has helped me expand my understanding and skillset as well as expose me to various different types of media productions.
I was also privileged to have created and co-host a gaming podcast with Adam called The NerdCast where we discussed news and current events happening within the gaming industry. Launching a new initiative and reaching over 250 viewers in less than a year had inspired me to learn to use more Avid programs like Pro Tools.
As a Twitch Stream Technician for Hofstra's eSports bi-weekly tournament live streams, I taught myself the inner workings of broadcasting video and audio outputs through a strong broadband in order to live steam and learned how to tackle visual and auditory challenges as they arose.
Recently, I worked for the creative studio, Malka Media where I coordinated alongside the company’s various production teams in the creation of content for various clients by ensuring call sheets and contacting freelancers to planned shoot dates were assembled for the producers during pre-production, Directors of Photography and camera operators on-set production were well taken care of with everything they needed, and I learned and promoted editorial skills alongside editors with various projects during the post-production.
During my academic and professional education, I have acquired a massive amount of skills and techniques. From directing, producing, writing, video editing to most recently live streaming on platforms such as Twitch, I have been able to heighten and extend my creative ability to be able to tell remarkable stories and experiences.

Producing a television show can come easily to those with practice, which makes sense. Those people understand what certain elements to budget, modify, or strip away in order for the show to run successfully. As for me, this past year was I given my first ever opportunity to be a sole producer on my very own live teleivsion broadcast, it was called Smash for the Ages.

I wish not to offend anyone with varied thoughts and opinions on said event as I only want to show my gratitude toward those who gave me this wonderful opportunity.

Writer, Director, and Independent Filmmaker, "Love After Love" (2018), "The Mend" (2014), "Rolling on the Floor Laughing" (2011) and Hofstra Univeristy Film ProfessorHe has a great creative vision.
Seeing as how well he managed every aspect of [Smash for the Ages] production, his hands-on dedication toward throughly communicating the show's look with our graphics designer, listening and reviewing the show's tone with our music selection, and being such a helping hand on the show's package shoots with the decisions and flow will surely get him far in life.
That alone should be evidence enough for that.
